Your Name

Hello မင်္ဂလာပါ, I am ရဲအောင်မိုး (Ye Aung Moe). ရဲအောင်မိုး is written in Burmese, the language of Burma. Yes, I hail from this (perhaps little-known) SouthEast Asian country called Burma/Myanmar မြန်မာ.

I am currently a Ph.D. Candidate in Finance at the College of Business, University of Nebraska - Lincoln. In my pre-PhD years, I gained diverse experience across multiple fields while working in Singapore and Myanmar. My jobs included a junior coder (in VB.Net), a digital marketing analyst, a market research analyst, a GCE-O and GCE-A levels mathematics tutor, and a research assisant to a cryptocurrency research team.

My current research interest spans across the trading activities of politicians in financial securities market, corporate governance in relation to political ideology and connection, investment, and fixed income. My research works have been recognized with the Best Paper Award Semifinalist at FMA 2024 and the Best Paper Award at AsianFA 2025. My teaching experience includes teaching as a primary instructor of record four times (Spring 2024, Fall 2024, Spring 2025, and Fall 2025) in Investment Principles, and Financial Institutions courses. My teaching skills have been widely recognized by students and I have an experience of building a new curriculum and designing new teaching materials (for the course on Financial Institutions).

When I am not engaged in finance research or teaching, I like to spend most of my free time reading epic fantasy series, a hobby I picked up in my teenage years. My favorite fantasy authors are J. R. R. Tolkien, Brandon Sanderson, and Robin Hobb. Robin Hobb's Liveship Traders series left in me an enduring love for fantasy literature. The fantasy book I finished reading recently is The Lady of the Lake of the Witcher's series. The series I am reading at the moment is The First Law trilogy. Gardening and hiking are my two other favorite pastimes.

I am currently on the job market for positions starting in Fall 2026 (July/August 2026).
